Doña Ana County has settled a discrimination lawsuit with a former employee for almost half-a-million dollars
The jury on Thursday evening awarded more than $1 million in damages to Kim Stewart, the former Doña Ana County internal affairs investigator who sued the county.
Former county internal affairs investigator Kim Stewart alleged she was fired from the county after concluding that another employee - then-Animal Control Supervisor Curtis Childress - was guilty of racial discrimination against two personnel he managed, according to the lawsuit.
